Dear Miras community!

During the October break, Nazym Tauyekel and Alexandra Michienzi — DP2 students at Miras International School — took part in a work experience programme, looking at the area of international relations and diplomacy.

The first photo shows them with Mr Dmitri Zorin, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Belarus (at the Diplomatic Corps Charity Bazaar). The second shows Mr Kairat Torebayev, Director for international relations at MEBP; and the third shows Ambassador Bouchez of the European Union.

They had interesting meetings with Dr. Dorsati Madani, Senior Country Economist at the World Bank Country Office in Kazakhstan. They also had the opportunity to meet with Ms. Ann Herrigan and Mr Steven Freeman from the British Embassy; and Mr David Burnstein, Mr David Gamble, Mr Charles Martin and Mr Drew Peterson from the U.S. Embassy.

Nazym and Alexandra enjoyed meeting professionals from such a wide range of backgrounds. They learnt a lot about careers in international relations and economics, and believe that his experience will be of value to them in preparing their applications to enter university.

Special thanks are due to Mr. Niall Leonard (father of Sophia in Grade 10) for setting up the programme and introducing the students to his colleagues.

We hope to expand this programme and involve several DP1 students during the school spring holiday at the end of March. Please contact the school if you have ideas for possible placements.
