Asia-Pacific School Leadership Academy in Seoul, Republic of South Korea31.10.2016
From 20-25th October I have participated in the work of the 7th Asia-Pacific School Leadership Academy “Towards a sister-school Network for Global Citizenship Education” which was held in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The APSLA aims to strengthen the capacity of school leaders in the Asia-Pacific region to develop and implement creative and sustainable school exchange programs, while deepening the understanding of EIU/GCED.
During the week, our team of 30 Participants from Korea, Bhutan, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Nepal, India, Japan, Thailand and Kazakhstan took part in the trainings, workshops and the work of the GCED Conference “Platform for Pedagogy and Practice”.
It was a fantastic experience, which again proved the fact that we are unique in our cultures but the same in our thoughts and aims as human beings. And together we can achieve a lot.
Miras International School of Astana is planning to build friendly relationships with Seoul Ancheon Elementary school of Korea, Kankali Secondary school of Nepal in terms of organizing pen-pal activities, online workshops, seminars, webinars, postal communication for students and teachers and in the nearest future we plan to organize school visits. There are other possibilities for collaboration but this is what we want to start with.
By implementing cross-cultural school exchange programmes we hope to deepen the understanding of Global citizenship among the school community, promote internationalism and help to create a more just, peaceful and sustainable society.
